Posted: June 7, 2022

On August 21, 2017, millions of people across the United States are already booking up hotels across the US for the best vantage point to see nature’s most astounding show — a total eclipse of the Sun.

Royal Caribbean International is providing the perfect solution for thrill seekers to experience this once-in-a-lifetime scene of unimaginable beauty; as the Moon completely blocks the Sun, daytime becomes a deep twilight, and the Sun’s corona shimmers in the darkened sky

Royal Caribbean International is offering a seven-night Total Eclipse Cruise in the Caribbean onboard Oasis of the Seas,, which will be the best vantage point at sea for guests to observe the Moon totally blocking the Sun, and watch daytime evolving into deep twilight, and the Sun’s radiance glistens in the darkened sky.

The once in a lifetime cruise will feature a party with a live concert performed by a major headliner – to be revealed at a later date – to celebrate the heavenly marvel that is poised to become the most photographed, most shared and most tweeted event in human history.

“We’re set to take guests on an unprecedented experience that is nearly a century in the making,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International.

“A total solar eclipse hasn’t crossed the entire U.S. since 1918, and with many of our ships sailing to the Caribbean along the projected path, the stars aligned. Oasis of the Seas will have the vantage point of the century and an unforgettable celebration out at sea that travellers won’t want to miss.”

The optimal viewing area along the eclipse’s path stretches across the US from Oregon to South Carolina before passing over the Atlantic Ocean. On this flight, the sun will be completely covered by the moon.

During this brag-worthy adventure to tranquil islands in the Caribbean, guests on Oasis of the Seas will be treated to a full slate of eclipse-themed activities, including dance parties, trivia, enrichment lectures, interactive science fun for kids, and tasty cocktails and dishes with names like the Cosmic Cosmo, Planetary Punch and Moon Pie, ensuring the most memorable and adventurous way to commemorate the Great American Eclipse.

The seven-night Total Eclipse Cruise on board Oasis of the Seas will set sail on 20 August 2022 from Orlando (Port Canaveral), Florida and visit eastern Caribbean destinations including Phillipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Nassau, Bahamas.

Seven other Royal Caribbean ships (Allure of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, Empress of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas, Grandeur of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas) will be sailing to the Caribbean during the total solar eclipse on 21 August, on itineraries ranging from three- to nine-nights, offering guests astonishing partial views of the phenomenon to make for a memorable experience.
