Princess Cruises Expanding With Two New Ship Orders

Princess Cruises has reached an agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. to construct two new ships, entering into service in 2019 and 2020.

At a ceremony on April 2nd at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera attended by Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio, Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald,  Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono and Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group, which includes Princess Cruises the contract was signed.

The yet to be named 143,700-tonne, 3560-passenger ships will be the brand’s fourth and fifth Royal-class vessels, boasting an progression of the effective design policy used on Royal Princess, Regal Princess and the new Majestic Princess coming in 2017.

The new-fangled Princess ships will embrace the signature fundamentals that have come to be synonymous with the brand’s best-in-class guest experience featuring a high central atrium, numerous dining, entertainment and retail venues; an outdoor theatre experience; and 80 per cent of all staterooms with balconies. The ships will also include new novelties to boost the guest experience even further.

Specific features and amenities for the ships, along with deployment details, will be revealed in the near future.

Presenting To You: Princess Cruises New Livery to Debut on Majestic Princess

Princess Cruises cruise ship built and designed especially for the China Market Majestic Princess, will be debuting an stylish new livery design showcasing the company’s iconic logo. Even more exciting, is that the livery design will be rolled out fleet wide over the coming few years.

Princess Cruises is recognised globally as a leader in cruising.  The modern, sophisticated new look is designed to strengthen the superior experience of Princess Cruises.

Princess Cruises President Jan Swartz said for nearly half a century the Princess logo had represented the adventure of cruise travel around the globe.

Majesstic Princess has also achieved a a compelling construction event with the ship “floated out” marked by a traditional ceremony as the ship met ocean water for the first time.in its building dock at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone,

Subsequent to the shipyard’s tradition, the ceremony commences when a “madrina,” or godmother, cuts the cord that signals the flow of sea water into the ship’s building dock. Executive Vice President of Fleet Operations Keith Taylor and recently appointed Majestic Princess Captain Dino Sagani represented Princess Cruises at the ceremony. Captain Sagani’s mother, Graziella Sagani, served as the ship’s “madrina.”

Majestic Princess will feature many of the same amenities of the highly esteemed  Royal Princess and Regal Princess, These consist of a vivid multi-story atrium serving as the social hub of the ship; an over-the-ocean SeaWalk, a top-deck glass-bottomed pathway covering 8.5 metres outside the edge of the ship; the Princess Live! interactive studio; and a special Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private dining experience that surrounds diners in a curtain of light.

Majestic Princess will also feature many new venues and capabilities created exclusively for the China market, the details of which will be revealed in the coming months.

Majestic Princess will based in Shanghai and carry 3560 guests.

Princess Cruises to Name New China-Based Cruise Ship Majestic Princess

Princess Cruises announced that its ship now under construction, a sister ship to Royal Princess and Regal Princess, will be named Majestic Princess.

The new ship will be based in China year-round beginning in summer 2017 and become the first vessel built specifically for Chinese guests incorporating a unique blend of international and Chinese features.

The 143,000-tonne vessel, Majestic Princess, is being built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. She will be homeported in Shanghai, carrying 3560 guests for cruises to Japan and Korea, and will offer many of the special features that have made Royal Princess and Regal Princess so popular and distinctive. These include a dramatic multi-storey atrium serving as the social hub of the ship; the unique over-the-ocean SeaWalk - a glass-floor walkway extending more than eight metres beyond the edge of the ship; the Princess Live! interactive studio; and the special Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private dining experience that surrounds guests in a curtain of light.
