Royal Caribbean Testing New Unlimited Alcohol Package Rule

Posted: July 10, 2022

Royal Caribbean is trailing a new policy modification for its unlimited alcohol package.

The new policy will required all adults occupying a stateroom to purchase an unlimited alcohol package if one adult in the room purchases it.

Cruise Critic is reporting Harmony of the Seas will test out the new policy during a few sailings, where all passengers 21 years old and older will be required to purchase a beverage package, if at least one other person in their cabin has one.

This trial package will be for eight Harmony of the Seas sailings starting September 30, 2022 through November 18, 2017.

Clearly the program is being tested as a consequence of too many guests sharing drink package benefits with other guests who have not purchased the drink package.

When Royal Caribbean first announced their drink packages, they stipulated that all adults in the same stateroom must purchase a drink package if one did, but the policy was soon dropped thereafter.

Is A Beverage Package For You?

Posted: November 7, 2022

Consuming Alcoholic beverages onboard your cruise is the fastest way to send your cruise bill skyrocketing. So the million dollar question is: Should you go purchase an unlimited beverage package?

We weight out the pros and cons and ascertain if a beverage package offers value for money or not.

How Much Will You Be Drinking?

Work out how much you would in reality spend on drinks each day and compare it to the price of a drink package

If you plan to try ask many cocktails each day, a beverage package can be great value. But otherwise you can be wasting a great deal of money. Be true to yourself.

For beverage packages to be worthy you’ll need to work out how much you would in reality spend on beverages each day and compare it to the price of a beverage package per day. It can be advantageous to make a list of everything you anticipate you would spend in a day – counting in juice, bottled water, and coffee, not just alcohol – and see how the totals tally up.

Examine What Is Contained Within The Package?

There are a number of drink packages worth bearing in mind

Generality speaking when you hear ‘beverage package’ you might just think of alcohol, but there are a number of beverage packages worth bearing in mind. The majority of cruise lines will offer soft drink, water or coffee packages that could be more appropriate for you. If you only like to have a bottle of wine with dinner, you can select a bulk wine package that will give you a number of bottles to drink over the cruise.

How Many Sea & Port Days Do You Have?

If you have a lot of days at sea you get more bang for your buck with a package

If you dock in a different port each day, with consecutive days spent on shore, then a package might not be wise. You won’t have the chance to use it daily as you will be in port and paying for drinks in the local bar or restaurant. If you have a lot of days at sea you’ll be spending more time in the onboard bars, meaning you’re getting more bang for your buck with a package.

Will Everyone In Your Cabin Be Using The Package?

Cruise lines generally only provide you with a drink package if every adult staying in a stateroom purchases one

More or less every cruise lines generally only provide you with a beverage package if every adult staying in a stateroom purchases one. This is aimed to stop guests double dipping on a package and in effect getting two for one. So if your stateroom mates aren’t drinkers, it can be a costly exercise for every guest to have to follow suit.
