P&O Cruises Australia is showing their commitment to the Queensland cruise market, revealing a major multi-million dollar Nip/Tuck for its Brisbane-based ship Pacific Dawn.
P&O Cruises was the first cruise line to base a cruise ship out of Brisbane with friendly rivalry from Royal Caribbean. Legend of the Seas is scheduled for her final season out of Portside at Hamilton before heading to Europe in 2017.
The 2000-guest Pacific Dawn will make her way to Singapore in February 2017 and will be dry-docked for a Nip/Tuck, re-emerging in March with new features never before seen on a Queensland-based ship including a waterpark with two adrenaline-charged waterslides and an interactive kids-only play area.

The Pantry, an international market place of fresh food outlets which will replace the traditional ship buffet. In addition to the tried and tested outlets that have made the dining concept hugely popular, Pacific Dawn’s Pantry will include a new Mediterranean-inspired offering called Nic and Toni’s. Also on offer will be the extremely popular poolside Grill, offering casual dining options.

P&O Cruises Pacific Dawn which turns 25 this year, last undertook a major revamp in 2010 and had new activities added in 2014.
P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the refurbishment would kick off a big year for the cruise line in Queensland.
“With the new waterpark, dining options and a refreshed interior design, we’re creating a great new look for Pacific Dawn which will combine some fun innovations with the winning features of our existing ships,” Mr Myrmell said.
Between Pacific Dawn and Pacific Aria a record 108 cruises to travellers in 2017 – up from 98 cruises this year.
Several of Pacific Dawn’s public spaces will be redesigned to emulate the chic contemporary look of Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden revealed to cruise-goers last year, which has become a trademark of the P&O fleet including the atrium, Charlie’s, The Orient and the Promenade Bar, which will be tailored with comparable colour scheme to sister ships Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden.

“There’s no question that Queenslanders love holidaying at sea with P&O, so we’re very excited that our Brisbane guests will soon be able to enjoy a stylish new look Pacific Dawn as part of their cruise holiday experience, alongside one of our latest ships, Pacific Aria.” Mr Myrmell said.
The latest Cruise Lines International Association report showed Queensland to be Australia’s cruise hub with almost six per cent of the state’s residents setting sail in 2015.
The 5.9 per cent infiltration was just ahead of New South Wales’ on 5.5 per cent and the ACT on five per cent.
