Refirbished Pacific Dawn

Delays for the Start of Pacific Dawn’s First Post-Refurbishment Cruise

Posted: March 5, 2022

Delays due to “technical work” has required P&O Cruises’ Pacific Dawn to stay in port in Singapore as the ship’s dry dock taking longer than expected.

Pacific Dawn set sail on an adjusted 13-night Indonesian Explorer itinerary, she will bypass the port of Dili in Timor-Leste so that she can arrive on schedule in its Brisbane homeport on March 16.

A P&O spokesperson provided Cruise Critic the following statement: “P&O Cruises has apologised to Pacific Dawn guests that they have to wait a day longer than planned to see and experience the results of [the] ship’s major refurbishment and the addition of new features during dry dock in Singapore.

“Guests were advised of the changed arrangements. Following normal check-in at the Marina Bay Cruise Centre, today a shuttle service has operated to overnight guest accommodation that has been organised in Singapore by P&O. Guests are being advised directly of refund arrangements for the loss of a day from their cruise experience. We have done everything possible to make guests comfortable in Singapore and to minimise any inconvenience. Today’s shuttle to local hotels has gone smoothly and we thank guests for their understanding.”

Brisbane’s Pacific Dawn Set for a Nip/Tuck

Posted: July 18, 2022

P&O Cruises Australia is showing their commitment to the Queensland cruise market, revealing a major multi-million dollar Nip/Tuck for its Brisbane-based ship Pacific Dawn.

P&O Cruises was the first cruise line to base a cruise ship out of Brisbane with friendly rivalry from Royal Caribbean.  Legend of the Seas is scheduled for her final season out of Portside at Hamilton before heading to Europe in 2017.

The 2000-guest Pacific Dawn will make her way to Singapore in February 2017 and will be dry-docked for a Nip/Tuck, re-emerging in March with new features never before seen on a Queensland-based ship including a waterpark with two adrenaline-charged waterslides and an interactive kids-only play area.

The Pantry, an international market place of fresh food outlets which will replace the traditional ship buffet. In addition to the tried and tested outlets that have made the dining concept hugely popular, Pacific Dawn’s Pantry will include a new Mediterranean-inspired offering called Nic and Toni’s. Also on offer will be the extremely popular poolside Grill, offering casual dining options.

P&O Cruises Pacific Dawn which turns 25 this year, last undertook a major revamp in 2010 and had new activities added in 2014.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the refurbishment would kick off a big year for the cruise line in Queensland.

“With the new waterpark, dining options and a refreshed interior design, we’re creating a great new look for Pacific Dawn which will combine some fun innovations with the winning features of our existing ships,” Mr Myrmell said.

Between Pacific Dawn and Pacific Aria a record 108 cruises to travellers in 2017 – up from 98 cruises this year.

Several of Pacific Dawn’s public spaces will be redesigned to emulate the chic contemporary look of Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden revealed to cruise-goers last year, which has become a trademark of the P&O fleet including the atrium, Charlie’s, The Orient and the Promenade Bar, which will be tailored with comparable colour scheme to sister ships Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden.
