You can now add take-out sushi to the list of culinary delights on offer on a cruise ship.
Royal Caribbean International this month has launched sushi-to-go carts planned to be rolled out on the entire fleet.
Labelled Izumi Express, the offering is an spinoff of the Izumi sushi restaurants.
The new sushi carts packages of sushi rolls range from $7 to $9, and shrimp crunchy roll and a spicy salmon roll, both for $8 accompanied by Japanese beers.
Royal Caribbean tested the Izumi Express concept earlier this year on the 3634-passenger Freedom of the Seas and this month is adding it to four more vessels: Independence of the Seas, Empress of the Seas, Majesty of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas.
Two more vessels, Adventure of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas will get the carts in August.
You might question, “Why would I want take-out sushi?”
There are however two good reasons:
- You have children and a sit-down meal is not ideal, but you still want sushi
- You want to delight in sushi anywhere on the ship, like your balcony
